(pronounced premier)
is the premier market
research association
of the graphic communications
industry. It was formed
in 2005 when GAMIS and
the NPES Market Research
Committee merged. Both
had a long history of
producing quality market
research about the industry.
Members
are from diverse segments
of the industry (manufacturers
and distributors of
equipment and supplies,
printers, trade shops,
publishers, and paper
companies), and are
foremost in their area
of specialty.

Members receive nearly
$600,000 in proprietary market
research (at least seven studies
each year) for their annual
dues that range from $416
to $8,100 depending upon sales
volume. (NPES members receive
a 50% discount on dues.) A
sample of recent studies includes:
-
Small Commercial & Quick Printer Study: 2006-2011 (2006)
- Digital Printing Outlook in a Production Environment (2006)
- Magazine Printing & Publishing in the US: 2006-2011 (2007)
- The Future of Catalogs (2006)
- World-Wide Market for Print (2007)
- Current and Future Trends in Printing Processes & Run Lengths (2006)
- Trends in Inkjet Technologies: 2006 - 2011 (2007)
Other research: benchmarking printers & consumables, global trends in packaging, trends in sheetfed lithography, future of newspapers, lifecycle of litho printing plates, market for traditional bindery and finishing, and the effect of postal reform on the demand for print. Topics
suggested by members are
developed and directed by
task forces made up of interested
members. Through committee
participation, the organization
provides an outstanding forum
for market strategists to
work in a peer situation developing
and managing major market
research projects.
PRIMIR meetings
provide a forum for each working
task force to meet and forward
the progress of their study.
In addition, each meeting
includes plant tours as well
as informational and educational
presentations on management
and technical issues.
From time to time the organization
will offer studies for sale
to non-members after a period of time. For a complete list
